How to successfully integrate new staff members? This is a major challenge for companies, especially since high potential individuals are increasingly demanding of their employer. With a twenty-year experience in newcomers’ recruitment and integration, the authors propose recommendations to take into account the real needs of the new recruits, and to improve processes that are often too superficial and administrative.

The main idea behind this book is that the integration period is particularly loaded in emotions. It is the company’s role to take this into consideration to altogether reassure, stimulate and maintain the engagement of the newcomer. The authors notably highlight the mistakes that can seem insignificant to those who already have a strong sense of belonging in the company, but may well leave a durably bad impression on those who are not yet familiar with its codes.

They also propose a model in 6 dimensions that enables the validation of the company’s onboarding process: it must cover culture, network, collaboration, competences, performance and rules to respect. A useful checklist for HR departments that design the induction programs and for managers who welcome a new staff member.
