Fundamental innovation and strategic renewal cannot happen without taking some risks. Encouraging risk-taking is thus essential to avoid organizational paralysis. This article underlines the central role of managers in this respect, specifically to instill a context in which individuals feel free to express their ideas, but also to help their subordinates learn from failures that may occur.
