Manageris opinion

This book is fun to read and offers an interesting overview of the issues involved in managing information technology. Peter High develops the broad outlines of a good IT department which is recognized as such. He specifically points out the importance of communicating on successes, paying special attention to people management, and putting infrastructure reliability at the top of the list of priorities.
Readers may regret that the ideas are not supported by practical case studies and concrete examples. Even so, the presented arguments are clear and convincing. We particularly recommend chapter 5, concerning the development of a real partnership between IT and the rest of the business, as well as chapter 6, on relations with external partners.
A book that offers a good introduction to the topic.
