Written by two internationally recognized coaches and experts in female career development, this book describes twelve counterproductive habits. Not that they are bad in themselves: on the contrary, they often result from adaptive mechanisms that worked at the start of a professional career and are based on exemplary values. But as Marshall Goldsmith points out throughout the book: “What got you here won’t get you there.” Each chapter thus addresses a specific habit, for example “waiting for others to spontaneously notice your contributions” or “overestimating expertise”. The psychological analysis is refined and nuanced. It highlights the impact of personal beliefs and cultural influences, and remains rooted in the reality of everyday professional life. A book that is both enlightening and practical.
