Dealing solely with the French context, this book studies the way (appalling, according to the authors), in which companies manage different employee age groups. This books covers very varied topics, from pre-retirement to learning. It is a well researched presentation of current practices, combined with a plea for these practices to evolve: companies must stop pitching generations against each other and commit themselves to managing human resources so as to enable each generation to benefit in its own way.
The issue of young people is addressed in more detail in chapters 6 and 7, essentially from the viewpoint of motivational drivers and the way new recruits should be integrated into the company. In examples such as Air France or Sollac, the authors show, for example, how career paths can be arranged taking into consideration young people’s expectations or how the integration process can influence young people’s success.
