The author, CEO of Global Foresight, who formerly taught at the University of California and the University of Beijing, offers executives some principles for action to confront the uncertainties of the coming decade.
Chapter 2 reviews extensively the major change trends to watch, e.g. technologies, globalization, social movements, etc. In the same fashion, chapter 8 offers many facts to get a grasp of probable changes in retail markets.
Chapters 3 to 6 primarily focus on the attitude required to succeed in a turbulent world. Although the choice of the topics covered make these chapters instructive, they are sometimes difficult to read due to explanations that are too detailed to serve as general principles, but too general to serve as a practical guide. However, these chapters could be perused rapidly to obtain an idea of the types of initiatives that could be considered.
Finally, two relatively data-packed chapters offer a deeper look at two specific topics, namely chapter 7 on generational differences and chapter 9 on Chinese society.
