Telework is increasingly widespread. Modern technological tools, as well as the evolution of mentalities, nowadays allows for a greater number of staff to work from home, whether occasionally or regularly. Yet, this new mode of organizing work also presents a major challenge for managers. This book wants to better prepare them for that task. Indeed, according to the authors, the challenge of “tele-management” is not so much about acquiring new techniques but rather about applying major leadership principles with added rigor. Communicating in a clear manner, motivating team members, giving them clear objectives, helping them to reach these: these attributes are rather classic for managers—but they take on a new dimension when needing to be applied remotely. To respond to this challenge, the authors advise that we reconsider our preconceived ideas about telework and be able to question our management practices

The Long-Distance Leader is an easy-to-comprehend book, with relevant advice. It constitutes a useful guide for managing a smooth transition into telework.
